So this is probably the largest natural swimming pool in the world, eh? I know this doesn’t look very clean but hey, its absolutely FREE for everyone so who cares. Scenes like these are common in Lahore during extreme heat of summer combined with load-shedding. Canal becomes a place of festivity for Lahori men, women and children in such harsh weather conditions.
There have been many queries about the exhibition time and submission procedure. Please note that the exhibition will be put up in a public space or spaces in the last week of November. The manner of exhibit will be according to the nature ofthe entries received.
We see the exhibition as a process of participation in actively articulating views, news, ideas about the city in a creative manner. We specially ask all of you who have expressed interest in the exhibition to take up some of the suggested categories and enlarge, expand and interpret them through your lens and words.
Lahore Sudhar has planned to organize an exhibition dedicated to living city of Lahore, aimed at exploring, expressing, inventing and unfolding the spirit and form of the city. The city is not merely a static, spatial, functional, geographical place but a breathing, moving, pulsating being, teeming with stories and songs, imagination, wisdom, magic and myth. It is a rich layered site of our shared living. The project is purposed at creating urban knowledge; initiating active interaction with and dialogue about the city and its future.
The exhibition will include photographs, audio/Video recordings and Text about the city. We look forward to developing a thorough, interesting, comprehensive collection with your contributions.
A panel of designers and artists will select and arrange the final exhibition in collaboration with the contributors.
A blog of the exhibition process and final selections will be available on the web. We invite all interested individuals to send us their response before 30th September 2008, so that we may finalize the entries. Click here for details.
